MEAL PLANNING
I don't really meal plan. Instead, I shop whatever is on sale at the grocery and plan my dinners around those proteins. I do double or triple batch things like pancakes, muffins and tortillas. Sometimes I visit a few grocery stores a week for the best deals.
Here is a list of our favorite proteins
- ground beef
- pork loin and thick cut chops
- chicken thighs and breasts

Simple Dinners that don't need recipes
- kielbasa sausages cooked in sauerkraut with side salads with ranch
- cheeseburgers (hold the buns) with green beans
- store bought Rotisserie chicken (check ingredients) with a side veggie or salad
- breakfast for dinner
- Chef salads with grilled chicken
- steaks on the grill
You don't have to over-complicate food. Meat + veggies = WINNING. We don't usually do desserts during the week, but in the beginning, I let my kids have all the treats they wanted. Easy things to keep on hand are Nick's or Rebel ice cream, High-Key sandwich cookies, SF jello or home baked cookies. Check out our favorite desserts HERE.
